Meet the Herbalist

I am an herbalist, writer, gardener and grandmother.

I help reconnect people and plants through regular herbal consultations online and in Great Mills, Maryland. As a clinical herbalist, I practice the “art” of herbalism by blending intuition, experience, research and patient-centered care to help people learn to activate their innate healing ability.

I specialize in helping working women manage stress and achieve work/life balance through plants and lifestyle considerations.

During the late 1970s, I visited Smile Herb Shop in College Park, Maryland, where I was introduced to Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) and its wound healing properties. Since then, yarrow and several other plant allies have followed me from house to house sharing their wisdom.

My formal study of herbal medicine began in 2013 with a second-career goal of becoming an herbalist who creates herbal medicine and collaborates with people on their wellness journey.

My bachelor’s degree in journalism and masters in contemporary communication are serving me well on this plant journey as I apply my writing, researching, photography and life experience to help others explore wellness. 

Another passion of mine is to help people learn to critically appraise the quality of information and differentiate between fad and evidence-based content.

Spending time in my herb garden grounds me and keeps me aligned to what’s important in life. As my practice evolves, I hope to share my garden through garden talks, plant gatherings and labyrinth walks. I am driven by the recurring theme that we’ve got to get back to the garden.

Among many things, I am a healer, medicine-maker, wise woman and child of the Universe. I’d like to hear your story.
